Proposed Transport Improvements to Derby Road
Filed under: Creative
As part of the Creative Quarter approach transport improvements, Nottingham City Council is proposing to make improvements to Derby Road in the near future.
These improvements are part of a programme of works to support economic growth in the Creative Quarter. The Creative Quarter programme is funded by Nottingham City Council and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Local businesses in the area have previously expressed support for improvements to the area and initial proposals have been primarily discussed at a traders meeting.
Derby Road is one of the primary corridors into the city centre from the north and east of the city, as well as an important local retail centre. The route forms part of the east-west cross city pedestrian route from Canning Circus through the Creative Quarter and onto Sneinton Market. The route is heavily trafficked, but also has an active street frontage, with many independent retail units along its length and a number of high frequency bus routes.
The improvements will help foster increased pedestrian footfall within the area and improve pedestrian activity along the road. Improvements to crossing facilities and the street scene incorporating widened pavements and trees will also make it a better place to visit and live within the city centre.

Any comments or objections to the proposals should be recieved in writing to Traffic and Safety, Development, Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham, NG2 3NG by the 13th February 2015 quoting TMP7104.
